Charges have been laid against more than a dozen alleged child abuse offenders as part of an Australian Federal Police crackdown in several states targeting online predators.

Australian law enforcement agencies have conducted a large-scale operation targeting suspected online child abuse offenders. In New South Wales, 140 officials executed 15 search warrants over two weeks, resulting in nine arrests and 30 charges as part of Operation Titan. Among those arrested are individuals accused of paying for live online child sexual abuse and engaging in sexualised conversations while posing as someone else. Authorities seized more than 50 electronic devices during the raids.

In South Australia, six men were arrested over six days for alleged child sex exploitation. The crackdown coincides with a reported 41% increase in child abuse material reports to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation over the past financial year, with nearly 83,000 cases recorded. Police have reiterated their commitment to tracking down offenders and warned that all online activity is traceable.

Today's announcement from the Australian Federal Police comes at the end of National Child Protection Week, with authorities now revealing an alarming jump in the number of child abuse material reports. In the last financial year, the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation received nearly 83,000 reports, a 41% rise from the previous year.
