Authorities have since reopened the roadway, and traffic is now flowing normally. Details about the circumstances leading up to the pedestrian being on the thruway are still being confirmed by police.

We are following breaking news for you today and an accident on the thruway in Yonkers News 12's Lisa LaRocca, joining us from the scene with an update, Lisa. Right, well, the good news is they've now opened up the thruway again, so traffic is flowing through. Take a look. So what they were doing earlier, as we've been reporting all morning, they had this exit exit 6A, which is the exit to get off for Stu Leonard's. That was where they were diverting traffic, so they had all the traffic going up this exit ramp, over, across, over the overpass and on the side road and then back on to the thruway. And we're still waiting on confirmation from New York State Police. They are the ones who are handling this because this accident happened on the thruway, but clearly it was a serious accident because they were diverting traffic for quite some time, for a few hours here. There is word, possibly, that a pedestrian was struck. I'm not sure exactly where or why a pedestrian would be down here, but again, we still have to try to get that confirmed if that was indeed the case. But again, like I said, you can see the traffic is now moving, flowing here on the New York State thruway, which is a good thing. And for rush between rush hour and, of course, getaway day, a lot of folks are going to be on here. So southbound is reopened. You had northbound kind of slowing down a bit just to take a look. But if you are planning on coming this way and you are going to avoid it, you're now safe to come on the southbound side here right by exit 6A. In the meantime, we'll continue to try to find out all the exact details about this accident. We're in Yonkers, Westchester County. Let's go back to the studio.
