According to the United Nations, about 90 percent of Gaza's population has been displaced by the war, and the Palestinian death toll has surpassed 70,000. The worsening humanitarian situation has led to calls from the UN for more aid to be allowed into the enclave, as residents also face shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.

In Gaza, most Palestinians live in fragile tents like these, with little protection from heavy rain and falling temperatures. As the third winter since the Israel-Hamas war began approaches, families wonder how they'll make it through. Last winter, my daughter died from the cold. I didn't have a tent or even the materials to make one back then. I couldn't save her. This year, the weather is even harsher, and I'm terrified the same thing will happen, and I'll lose another one of my kids due to the cold." With a precarious ceasefire still holding, the Palestinian death toll has risen above 70,000 since the Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The worsening conditions threaten to claim even more lives after roughly 90 percent of Gaza's population was displaced by the war, according to the United Nations. This winter is extremely difficult for us, especially that we live in tents. We have not experienced such a situation before. As for my tent, there are nine of us here, including my children. When it rains, the tent turns into a waterfall over our heads, and I can't keep my children warm." On top of the cold, Palestinians struggle to access food, clean water, and medicine. The UN has called for more aid to be allowed into the enclave.

The Ukrainian delegation met with U.S. officials in Miami on Sunday ahead of scheduled talks between the U.S. and Russian officials, including Vladimir Putin, later this week.
