A man has been jailed and a teenage boy has been spared prison over their roles in the underworld murders of teenage gangster Salim Hamze and his innocent father Toufik four years ago.

A father and son were fatally shot while sitting in their vehicle outside their home in Guildford, in what police describe as one of Australia's most severe organised crime assassinations. The son, Salem Hamsey, was involved in criminal activity and on bail for firearm offences, while his father, Tewfik, was not known to have any criminal connections. 

Four men have now been convicted for their roles as accessories in the murder, including two who coordinated the movement and cleaning of stolen vehicles used in the crime. The investigation remains ongoing, with police issuing an arrest warrant for a suspect believed to have fled overseas. Authorities have stated that the outsourcing of criminal activities is a growing issue in Sydney.

Police consider it one of the worst organised crime assassinations Australia has seen. 18-year-old Salem Hamsey was deep in Sydney's underbelly on bail for firearm offences at the time of his murder. His 64-year-old father was an innocent victim. His father Tewfik was trying to get him away from that criminal Malou. We don't know of any involvement in any crime that the father had. Salem and Hamza, now 23 and a male who was 16 years old at the time, were today sentenced to being accessories after the murder. The victims were gunned down on Osgood Street in Guildford in October 2021. A burning Lexus used in the offence was found nearby and the getaway car that fled that scene was identified as a grey Ford Mustang. The two males coordinated the movement of the stolen cars. They were paid in cash and cocaine. The court heard they cleaned the getaway cars after realising the vehicles were red hot. The judge said there was a high degree of recklessness as to what would become of or be done with that car, saying Hamza's actions were based on misguided loyalty and self-preservation while the juvenile was impulsive and immature. Two other men have been convicted for similar roles in the murders. We'll be chasing up every lead in relation to this matter. But in four years this is the closest police have got to convicting those responsible for the Hamsey double murder. Investigation into the two shooters is ongoing with police issuing an arrest warrant for one alleged offender offshore. Zahid Abdel Hafez fled overseas after the attack. The Crown told the court the outsourcing of criminal activities is rife in Sydney. Sarah Navin, 10 News.
