Lorain Police Officer Brent Payne was released from Cleveland Metro Hospital Saturday, according to the Lorain Police Department.

A Lorain police officer, Brent Payne, has been released from hospital following an ambush that left one officer dead and another recovering from injuries. Officer Payne was initially transported by life flight from Mercy Hospital in Lorain to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, where he has been recovering. Upon his release, fellow officers and other agencies lined the hallway in support, and a police escort accompanied him home where he will continue his recovery. The incident has prompted an outpouring of support from the community for the officers and their families.

Before we look at some of the ways the community is supporting them. We have new information tonight. Officer Brent Payne is out of the hospital. Officer Payne was taken by life flight from Mercy Hospital in Lorraine to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland on Wednesday. He has been at Metro since Lorraine police telling us he was released today and officers from the Lorraine Police Department and other agencies lined the hallway as he left. A police escort led him home where he will continue to recover from his injuries. Lorraine police celebrating this step and thanking the community for all of the support along the way.

Following four days of border clashes which have left over 30 people dead, the two sides have agreed to Malaysia acting as a mediator in the conflict.
