An off-duty police officer was robbed by a man on a scooter. The robbery happened on Waldo Avenue at 10:30 p.m.

An off-duty NYPD officer was robbed while inside a car on Waldo Avenue in Riverdale, Bronx. According to police, a man approached the officer on a two-wheeled vehicle, struck him with a helmet, and stole his belongings before fleeing the scene on a scooter.

The suspect was last seen heading toward Manhattan University and was described as wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a black and red helmet. The officer was not injured in the incident, and police are appealing to the public for information to assist in their investigation.

We're following breaking news out of Riverdale, where an off-duty NYPD officer was robbed. News 12's Brittany Kudet joins us now from where this all happened. Brittany, what are you learning? Yeah, Marissa, good morning. The details of this entire robbery are honestly just extremely bold. Get this, the thief threw his helmet at the off-duty police officer before running off with his things. Now, police say this all happened right here on Waldo Avenue at around 10.30 last night. We're told the 31-year-old off-duty NYPD officer was inside of the car when a man on a two-wheeled vehicle came up and swung a helmet at him. He then snatched the officer's belongings and got away on that same scooter. Police say he went towards Manhattan University and was wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black and red helmet. Police tell us luckily the off-duty officer was not heard in this robbery. However, they are asking if anyone has any information on what happened here.
