The exhibition, titled 'Italia Nissance', highlights the contributions of the Italian community to Tunisian architectural and decorative styles from the 16th to the 20th century. 

The show is divided into three main themes: religious buildings, residential palaces and rural homes, and urban architecture in the capital. Organisers aim to promote and preserve Tunisia's diverse heritage, noting that the Ahmed Bey Palace itself is an example of Italian architectural influence. The exhibition is currently on display at the National School of Architecture and Urbanism in Tunis.

The exhibition highlights the Italian imprint on Tunisian architecture throughout the ages. The aim of this exhibition is to highlight the architectural and decorative influences of the Italian community present from the 16th to the 20th century. The exhibition is divided into three themes. First, we have the mosques and their decorative elements. Then we have the residences such as Bey-likul palaces like Bardo and Ahmed Bey palaces, as well as rural homes in the Majerda valley. And finally, Tunisian urban architecture including apartment buildings and villas in the capital. Organisers say the exhibition aims to preserve and promote Tunisia's heritage. Ahmed Bey Palace itself reflects Italian architectural influence, making it a symbolic first venue. The geographical and historical reasons are well known. Tunisia is the closest African country to Italy. Italian presence was especially visible in the 17th century in palaces and throne rooms such as the Bardo Palace, which has a rococo-style Italian hall, and in mosques like the Sabagine Mosque and Hamouda Mosque with Baroque elements. Italian influence is also evident in other monuments such as Tourbe-el-Bey, Tourbe-Ali Pasha and Tourbe-Mouradids. Italian Nissans now runs at the National School of Architecture and Urbanism in Tunis, starting Monday and until October 18th.
