The North Carolina House is working to override a veto on permitless carry legislation, which would make North Carolina the 30th state to allow constitutional carry. Some Republican lawmakers remain non-committal or opposed, making the outcome uncertain. 

This debate occurs as courts and lawmakers in other states address gun control measures. In Tennessee, a court recently struck down two gun control laws as unconstitutional, while in Florida, the NRA has filed a lawsuit against the state's three-day waiting period for gun purchases. Additionally, Florida's Attorney General has declined to defend certain gun restrictions, and a rule now allows medical cannabis users to possess firearms, provided they are not under the influence while carrying.

Yeah, Louisiana was 28, South Carolina 29, so North Carolina would be 30. I stand corrected. You know, again, more than half the country has already adopted this, right? This is not exactly breaking news. This is nothing new. So it is incredibly frustrating that we actually have, I think at this point, three Republicans who are either non-committal, or have said that they will vote against this. Primary. It makes it a challenge in the North Carolina House to get this done, unfortunately. I would love to see this happen. North Carolina should be the 30th state. We should have all 50 states be constitutional carry, but Gun Owners of North Carolina are going to have to put some pressure on some Republican lawmakers to make it happen. Yeah, or you can do something that rhymes with primary. Luis, a panel of judges in Tennessee just, I mean, they just struck down two gun control laws as unconstitutional violations of the Second Amendment. One banning firearms in public parks and playgrounds, and another, so vague, it's intent to go armed, which I was reading this, I didn't even understand. Basically, it lets cops harass anyone carrying a gun. The state has 30 days to appeal the court ruling, but I feel like they won't. Yeah, this was a major win for GOA. We fought tooth and nail against this. And the intent to go armed was literally an oxymoron, as you said. It allowed law enforcement to harass law-abiding citizens who wanted to carry a firearm, not just in the streets, but literally in their own homes. We got the courts to side with us to say this is unconstitutional. And now Tennessee is truly a real constitutional carry state, unlike what it was a couple of weeks ago. So this is a tremendous win due to gun owners' hard work. Yeah, Cam, the NRA has actually filed a lawsuit against Florida's three-day waiting period for gun purchases. It was enacted after the Parkland school shooting. And I'm thinking to myself, waiting periods are just so archaic. They have no idea. They don't. And this follows on the heels of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals last week striking down New Mexico's seven-day waiting period. So we've already seen some precedent here. As the NRA argues, the first waiting period law was put into effect in California, I think, in the 1920s. It was a one-day waiting period so that the background check could be completed. Well, now we have the National Incident Check System, so that's not necessary. And that's not the justification for Florida's law. Florida calls this a cooling-off period. So basically, after you've bought a gun, you've passed the background check, instead of taking that gun home with you, you're supposed to sit and think about your decision for three days. Do you really want to exercise your Second Amendment rights? This is completely devoid of any sort of national tradition of gun ownership. It is in direct conflict with the plain text of the Second Amendment. It's going to be really interesting, Carl. Florida's Attorney General, Jay Moosemeyer, has declined to defend the state's ban on gun sales to 18, 19, and 20-year-olds before the Supreme Court. Now here's another federal challenge to a Florida gun law, and it's going to be interesting to see if the Attorney General will defend this law or if he will take a pass on the waiting period bill, too. I will say that I am thankful for waiting periods on one basis, is that I was waiting for my wife to approve my last gun purchase. I just bought a .226X5 with tritium sight, so I'm very excited about that. Lewis, 15 seconds or less here. Florida and the cannabis rule. If you're using medical grade cannabis and stuff like this, you say, yes, you can possess firearms. It's a win. Very simple. Floridians shouldn't have their Second Amendment rights denied because their doctors prescribed them a certain medication. So this is a good thing. Yeah. Well, and also, if you're high or drunk, you can't carry a firearm because you're under the influence. So just because you used it one day doesn't mean you can't carry a gun the next day.
