NASCAR is steering into uncharted territory by bringing its racing to the streets of Naval Base Coronado for the first time ever.

NASCAR has revealed plans to host a new street race at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, marking the first time a NASCAR event will take place on an active military base. The race is scheduled as part of a three-day event to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy and is expected to draw fans from across the country and internationally.

Drivers have expressed excitement about the unique venue and the opportunity to bring the sport to new audiences. NASCAR officials highlighted the significance of expanding to new locations and engaging with communities that may not have previously experienced a NASCAR event.

for a new start in the professional racing world here in San Diego. The first of its kind just heard the streets of San Diego. I was like, oh, that'd be neat. And then when we learned it was going to be on the base, I was like, well, that's the coolest thing ever. I hope it's actually true. Wednesday NASCAR announced it's hosting a new street race at Naval Base Coronado in summer of 2026. The first ever time a race will be held on an active military base. An exciting moment to bring something new to life. A lot of emotions, a lot of pride, a lot of excitement. This is this. Yeah, I mean you gotta pinch me. This is incredible, incredible for us. It's incredible for the community and also an incredible experience for those in the driver's seat. Like I said, when I when I heard those rumors around San Diego, I was like please be true because this will be a dream come true. Not only for me, but a lot of. My fans and friends and family. It's hard to sometimes to get to places that are across the country, so to to bring the show to them is super special. NASCAR San Diego weekend will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy. It's a big honor for me. Yeah, I'm a proud American and very. It's a big pleasure to be honest, and it's very cool to kind of see what NASCAR is doing and kind of stepping out and and trying new things. But another milestone moment for NASCAR that has added a new venue each year for the last six. You know we come here in June of next year. Fans are going to travel all across the country and and frankly across a number of nations to come here, but there will be many new fans that have never been to a NASCAR event before that will come out and sample it for the first time. Opening doors for new fans and the next generation. I'm 31 now and I think about when I was five years old and wanting to looking up to these drivers and people and wanting to be like that and it's it's pretty special that we get to do that. The three day race weekend is set for June 19th to the 21st, 2026.
