T﻿riple premiership-winning AFL coach Mick Malthouse has been attacked with a crowbar and a screwdriver as he fought off three intruders who broke into his East Melbourne home. The 72-year-old suffered minor injuries.

AFL Hall of Fame coach Mick Malthouse confronted three masked men attempting to break into his Melbourne apartment. The intruders, armed with a screwdriver and crowbar, were met by Malthouse wielding an exercise bar, leading to a physical altercation before the men fled.

Malthouse, who sustained a minor chest injury, expressed frustration at the rise in violent home invasions. Police are still searching for the suspects and have advised residents to contact authorities rather than intervene directly in such situations.

What do I do? Don't do anything and let them get in. My first thing is not to let them get a chance to get in. Mick says his wife was scared for his life knowing the attackers were armed during the violent confrontation. Given he was outnumbered three to one, the AFL legend didn't consider performing a citizen's arrest. She was out in the balcony, saw them running away and she thought, maybe I'm not coming back. Frustrated by the rise of violent home invasions. What's the odds? The odds are probably pretty high, living in Victoria.
