A one-year-old boy named Anthony Casey died in Brownsville, Brooklyn, after suffering blunt force injuries to his stomach, according to the medical examiner, who has ruled the death a homicide. Emergency crews responded to the scene and attempted CPR before transporting the child to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police report that the child's mother said he had been fine earlier but was found not breathing after a nap. Both the mother and her boyfriend attempted CPR before calling emergency services. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.

This cell phone video from a neighbor shows emergency crews rushing to the scene Friday. That was just before 5 p.m. First responders, they tried CPR and raced the baby to Brookdale Hospital, but he was pronounced dead less than an hour later. Police sources tells us the mother said that the baby had been fine earlier in the day, but had diarrhea the day before. She told police he went down for a nap, but when she checked on him, he wasn't breathing. The source tells us both the mom and her boyfriend tried CPR before calling 9-1-1. At first, doctors didn't see any obvious signs of injury, but the medical examiner later found trauma to his stomach. Some neighbors here are stunned. I saw a lot of police officers here Friday. I'm more shocked than anything else. But this usually this doesn't really happen inside this building. You really don't hear too much too much gibberish about inside the building.
