A giant holiday ornament became dislodged during a storm in Stamford, Connecticut, rolling through Harbor Point and striking two parked cars. The incident occurred after strong winds caused the decoration to break free from its position at Triangle Park, despite being weighed down with sandbags.

The park and decorations are owned by local developer BLT, and the owner of the most damaged car is seeking compensation for repairs. News 12 Connecticut has contacted both BLT and the Stamford Police Department for comment and is awaiting a response. No further incidents have been reported since the ornament was secured.

Well, connect Greg Thompson is joining us now with the latest on this and showing us that video, Greg. Yeah, what's going on? You know we're always talking about when there's a bad storm and it gets windy. You want to watch out for your holiday decorations and we found out exactly why on Friday night. You can see behind me that giant globe ball ornament thing that's currently getting secured to the tip of Triangle Park right there. Workers trying to get it fastened down nice and secure over there. Hopefully they're doing a good job because on Friday afternoon when those second round of storms came through, it came loose from where it was over there. Take a look at how things were looking right there as it rolled right into Harbor Point Rd South. Now we see the ball just apparently coming loose and turning the street into something out of an Indiana Jones movie watches it crashes into one car and then just. Keep rolling down the road and luckily things weren't even more crammed with more cars and people around there or might have been even worse, but we do see the ball eventually hit into a second car that was parked even further down the road. Now we're told that the park and the decorations are all owned by BLT. That's the developer that does a lot of work around here and kind of owns this whole area. If you're wondering exactly what one of those things could do if it hit a car, take a look at this. This is the damage to that first car that was hit. You see the back of it covered in sand and all the things that were supposed to be weighing it down. Drenched and dented up now while that car got the worst of it, another driver tells us she was a little further down the road and was forced to watch as everything was just happening in front of her. To see that was like is that what the hell is that? Is that a ball? What is that? And my son was like it's rolling. I was like, oh my God, a ball is literally rolling in my direction and then I swear I thought it was going to hit me, but then it just hit the car in front of me and like slightly bounce right around and kept going. Yeah, definitely a lucky break there. Now, as for the car that got all of that damage, the owner tells us she's hoping that BLT will step up and pay for all of the repairs that we reached out to both BLT and the Stanford Police Department. We will let you know if we hear back for now. That is latest here in Stanford. Watching out for anything that might come rolling down the road right here. But so far so good.
