He may also discuss major European powers' plans to recognize Palestinian statehood at the U.N. General Assembly. Earlier, he posted on X saying his focus will be on securing the return of the hostages, finding ways to ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians, and addressing the threat posed by Hamas. Rubio says Hamas cannot continue to exist if peace in the region is the goal. We're going to speak to Hamda Salute, who is live for us in Amman. Now, she is there because the Israeli government has banned al-Jazeera from reporting from inside Israel, as well as the occupied West Bank. Hamda, that attack on Hamas leaders in Doha is really what has forced Marco Rubio to head to Israel. He's got a tricky balancing act, though, because he's there given the U.S. has condemned the attack, but also backed Israel going after Hamas leaders. There's going to be a lot to discuss with the Israeli prime minister. Last night, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the Americans were not happy about the Israeli attack in the Qatari capital, and specifically that U.S. President Donald Trump was not thrilled about it at all. So there's going to be some damage control that needs to be done there, and Rubio is trying to find now a path forward for what Israel's plan is regarding the war on Gaza. In just a few weeks, we are going to be nearing the two-year mark since the war began, and Israel hasn't accomplished any of its military goals and objectives. There are still 48 captives being held in Gaza, and Israel is intensifying its military operations despite a lot of international pushback. But while that will take up a majority of the conversation, there's also another big agenda item for discussion, potential Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank and what it will mean internationally, what kind of implications will it have not only for Israel, but for the Trump administration, who is reportedly not opposed to this. There are a lot of sources speaking behind the scenes saying that this will tarnish any sort of reputation that President Trump has with the Middle East, and that it could potentially put the Abraham Accords at risk. These are the agreements brokered by Donald Trump with several countries in the region to normalize with Israel. So there is a lot moving forward on the discussion table as to what the Americans are going to announce potentially after. Well, that we'll have to wait and see for. Indeed. And just following the Qatar attacks, has that actually increased the domestic pressure on Netanyahu at all? Well, last night, the rhetoric from family members of Israeli captives was quite severe. We've been seeing these protests on the streets Saturday nights for almost two years. But last night, they said that Netanyahu is the one killing the chance of any sort of deal. So many families were opposed to this Israeli military action in the Qatari capital, Doha. And they don't really know how things are going to move forward, because Israel didn't just attack Doha. They attacked the very place where negotiations were being held, the very place where Israeli officials have gone to numerous times, excuse me, over the last two years, and in the very country that's trying to mediate all of those efforts. So a lot of questions from those family members asking and demanding accountability from their government of how they're going to move forward.
