An alleged arm man barricaded himself inside an RV outside the Masjid Bilal Islamic Center in South LA.

Police in Los Angeles responded to reports of a man with a high-powered rifle near an Islamic center in the Central City area, just south of downtown. The individual was last seen in front of an RV, prompting a significant law enforcement presence and the closure of nearby roads.

Authorities called in SWAT units and established a perimeter, restricting both vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area. At the time of the report, the suspect and the weapon had not been taken into custody, and police continued to monitor the situation.

All right, we've got some breaking news right now. We're going up to Stu up in Sky Fox. Stu, where are you and what's going on? This is going to be what's called the Central City area. It's going to be in South Los Angeles, just south of downtown. That's going to be Central and MLK Boulevard. You see a number of law enforcement down there, and it is right next to an Islamic center. Now, reports are of a man with a high-powered rifle that was last seen in front of that RV that you see right there. Now, when officers did arrive, apparently, somebody got into that RV, and that is the reason why this has become more of a standoff type of situation. LAPD shut down the actual intersection out here and a good portion of both of those roads, not allowing any traffic in or out. They did call for their Metro SWAT guys to make their way over here. I just did see somebody going into custody. Now, I'm not sure if that was just somebody that was in the area or nearby, but you can see somebody right there with a hat going into cuffs. I did turn down the scanner to when we went live. I'm not sure if that's the suspect because I kept hearing them say the suspect wearing a yellow T-shirt. Maybe that's just somebody that was in the area creating some issues, but again, very serious situation out here right across the street from an Islamic center off of Central and MLK, a person with a high-powered rifle seen in front of one of those RVs. Right now, that person not in the custody, and neither is the weapon. I'm still up at Sky Fox sending it back to you all in the studio. All right, and you did say that traffic is closed in this area, so anyone who needs to get through, you have to find an alternate route, right? At this time, definitely. At least a block in either direction out there. That is going to be Central, the one that I'm showing you that is on the Islamic center. You can see an officer right there, cars making the turn. North and southbound lanes shut down, and of course, MLK. You can see vehicles kind of squeezing by, but both directions at Martin Luther King, where it kind of jogs right there at Central. If you know the area, you know the area. Again, blocking both directions, pedestrian or traffic, vehicle traffic in this area. All right, Stu, thanks so much. Keep an eye on things there.
