More than 48 hours after the fiery crash of a UPS cargo plane in Louisville, eight people are still unaccounted for. At least 13 people were killed, including a child. Tom Hanson is following the investigation. Moments after the UPS cargo plane lifted off, the left engine detached from the wing, causing the plane to crash and ignite a massive fire. New video shows the plane slamming into nearby businesses and workers running for their lives. I thought it was like an atomic bomb or something. The flames come up and knock me off my feet. Sabit Aliyev, who works at a truck repair shop, recorded these videos. He tells us he thought they would be his last. We've been trapped behind our business. We cannot run to the street because the fire was all over. Satellite images show the before and after, revealing the trail of destruction the aircraft left behind in Louisville. The plane was powered by three GE CF6 engines. In a statement released by the company, they say safety is our first priority and we are supporting the NTSB's investigation. NTSB will examine the plane's maintenance history. Flight radar data shows that the aircraft was in San Antonio from September 3rd to October 18th. One FAA service report noted a crack in one of the plane's fuel tanks. Today, investigators released this photo of the charred flight data recorders recovered from the wreckage. The data from the boxes is being examined in DC. NTSB board member Todd Inman. We will look at every piece of maintenance that was done. We've seen reports that it needed repairs. How confident are investigators that those repairs satisfied the safety criteria for this plane to fly? We have a number of MD-11 pilots and mechanics that are all certified or instructors, so I feel very comfortable that those experts are going to be able to see if any repairs should have been done or not. Today, UPS released the names and photos of the three pilots on board. We also learned this investigation has expanded in size with more personnel now on the way. Meanwhile, this community is just beginning to process the magnitude of their loss. Tonight, hundreds of people gathered here at this community church for a vigil to honor the victims.
