A man is dead after a shooting in New Richmond on Tuesday night, according to New Richmond Police Chief Scott Noel.

A man was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest at a home in New Richmond. Police responded to a 911 call and discovered the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A 61-year-old woman was taken into custody and has been charged with murder. Authorities are still working to confirm her connection to the case and have not released the identities of those involved or their relationship. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Nine news reporter Ali Kramer, who is just outside of the police department this morning in New Richmond and Ali, you did get new information. I did. I just talked to a deputy in the Claremont County Jail who confirmed to me a 61 year old woman was in fact booked with Claremont County deputies overnight. She's charged with murder due in court at 10 o'clock this morning, but he stopped short of saying that she was in fact the woman that was arrested on scene here in New Richmond last night. He did say New Richmond police were part of that investigation. Of course, we talked with the police chief Scott Noel out here. He was here on the scene of Indian Ridge Trail Drive, and he said that that woman was taken into custody, suspected of shooting a man in the chest inside that home. The chief says dispatchers were actually called out there after receiving a 911 call around 8 30 last night. New Richmond officers as well as backup from Pierce Township and the Claremont County Sheriff's Office responded to the home. That's where they found that man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was also called to help with the crime scene investigation again. We are working to confirm that that woman who was arrested and booked into jail is in fact connected to this case, and police tell us they are not yet ready to release the identity of that victim.
