The doubles matches provided high tension, with England's Lane and Vendy stunning Korea's top seeds in the first game before the Koreans rallied to win the match. Malaysia's home duo, Arun Chia and Soe Wui Yeak, won a tense opener and sealed their place in the finals, much to the delight of local fans.

The Malaysia Open semi-finals brought straight sets precision and dramatic comebacks. China's Shi Yuqi dismantled Denmark's Anders Antonsen 21-13, 21-14. While Thailand's Khunlevut Vittidsarn dispatched Indonesia's Jonathan Christie 21-16, 21-16. But the doubles delivered the theatre. England's Lane and Vendy stunned Korea's top seeds 21-8 in Game 1. The Koreans stormed back to take the second 21-11 and in the decider, Seo Seung Jae's spectacular behind-the-back winner at 13-14 electrified the crowd as they closed it 21-18. Malaysia's home duo Arun Chia and Soe Wui Yeak survived a tense opener 23-21 before sealing it 21-18, sending local fans into delirium. Sunday's finals are set.
