The Trump administration is making it harder for the public to learn about what's really happening within the U.S. armed forces. Journalists representing every major American news outlet refusing to abide by the new restrictions introduced by the defense secretary. It's worrisome. If I was a little more blunt I would call his actions sad and pathetic but I'll call them worrisome. Of the new rules the biggest concern journalists could be labeled a security risk for publishing anything that isn't officially approved by the Department of Defense. Specific punishments for violators remain unclear but at a minimum a journalist could lose Pentagon access. That may be what Defense Secretary Pete Hackseth wants. He may be wanting to replace real reporters with pro-Trump propagandists at the Pentagon. Major broadcasters are united in opposition writing the policy is without precedent and threatens core journalistic protections. Even the pro-Trump Fox News media signed on the same network where Defense Secretary Pete Hackseth used to work as a host. So it's common sense stuff Mr. President we're trying to make sure national security is respected and we're proud of the policy. Hackseth clearly has the president's support in this moment. But I think he finds the press to be very disruptive in terms of world peace and maybe security for our nation. Press is very dishonest. Donald Trump also suggesting he could consider similar restrictions elsewhere. The press years ago moved into the White House. It used to be across the street. We could move them. You're lucky I'm president because we could move them very easily across the street. Reporters refusing to accept the new rules have been told to hand in their Pentagon press passes.
