And in many cases, the first path for the reduction, this has been economic transformation and economic reforms, which is what Uzbekistan has done. China's experience is a mirror in many respects, in terms of they bring together strong economic laws and inclusive policies and also very targeted action measures for national level and also at the local level. With investments of almost 30 billion euros this year alone, Uzbekistan created 300,000 new jobs and expanded support for women and youth. From free medicines and social payments to vocational training and business loans, the state is reshaping opportunities at every level. Five years ago, around 650 million people worldwide were living in poverty. Today that number has risen to 800 million. But Uzbekistan has already made its commitment to halve the poverty by 2030. As President Shaukat Merziyev underlined, poverty is not destiny. It can be overcome through determined leadership, disciplined reforms and innovative approaches. Uzbekistan has a bold ambition to completely eradicate absolute poverty by the decade's end.
