After deadly flooding in Chattanooga, days of repeated storms are raising the risk for flash floods throughout the Southeast.

Flood watches remain in effect from Pike County, Kentucky, through Huntsville, Alabama, and Middle Tennessee, as the Southeast continues to experience strong and slow-moving thunderstorms. Recent deadly flash flooding in Chattanooga and El Paso has heightened concerns, with severe weather also impacting areas in Georgia and Florida. 

Meteorologists report that the humid air mass is unlikely to clear soon, supporting daily thunderstorms and ongoing flash flood threats. The forecast indicates that these conditions will persist, with the greatest likelihood of storms in central and southwestern Florida and other southeastern regions. Residents are advised to remain alert for potential flooding and rip current dangers.

Lingering storms bring flash flood threats to the Southeast

But other areas are dealing with some strong and severe thunderstorms. As we take you into radar mode, we're gonna take you on a little bit of a radar tour after that deadly flash flooding event there last night in Chattanooga and also out near El Paso, Texas. We've had too many problems in the corners of the map there off to the west into Texas. But as we zoom in on some of these storms moving through East Georgia, here we are from Pembroke, Georgia, pulling north slowly, slowly to the north northeast. We're dealing with a slow moving, severe thunderstorm between Savannah and Statesboro, Georgia, heading farther south. Let's go down to Orlando. This is a strengthening, severe cell moving very slowly. You can see this polygon. It's almost a stationary storm. In fact, there's some kind of a cell merger going on here is the cell to the north and the cell to the south. They're kind of coming together just in the north side of the Orlando Metro. Severe thunderstorm could bring some damaging wind potential out of that area there fairly soon, and it probably won't be a storm that sustains itself for too long. But for now, highly populated area facing some big trouble. Jacksonville has been cooled down by a recent storm 78 degrees there. Nashville 78 on the cool side there. Other areas are much hotter as we take you west into El Paso, where the flash flooding was a big story yesterday. Closing down part of I 10. We're at 95 now, which is relatively close to average for this time of the evening, the early evening this time of the year. But tomorrow will be watching for some more storms in the southeast, warm and dry, very warm and dry in parts of Texas. There will be some near Lubbock that make a run close to the triple digits again. But numerous thunderstorms in this darker green zone across much of the southeast still an issue for Thursday. You could see as one episode fades tonight. Tomorrow morning we get into the latter part of the morning in the early afternoon, isolated downpours and then storms become more robust, the most widespread of the day here around four or five p.m. Highlighting some areas here that have a better chance of some thunderstorms on Thursday, and we're gonna do this again on Friday as well. There's nothing to really clear out the air mass, so it's gonna remain very humid, and that will continue to support daily thunderstorms here, bringing local localized flash flood threats of Friday's map. A lot of green on the map, highlighting areas with the greatest likelihood of thunderstorms into southwest southwestern and central Florida and also parts of the southeast Saturday. More storms out there, so we need to keep an eye on this and just beware of the danger of rip currents. As Damien has been mentioning Saturday is the weekend begins. 100 degrees in ST Louis haven't been there for a while. We may do it for the first time of the year this Saturday.
