Amy Betro, from Wisconsin, was found guilty in the UK for attempting to kill Sikandar Ali as part of a murder-for-hire plot. Disguised in a niqab, Betro's initial attempt failed when her firearm jammed, allowing the target to escape. She later returned to the scene and fired at Ali's house, but no one was home. The plot was orchestrated by Mohamed Aslam and his son Mohamed Nabeel Nazir, who were involved in a feud with the victim's family. Betro and her co-conspirators have now been convicted, with sentencing to follow.

She shoots at Ali's house, but no one is home. Betro flew to the UK from Wisconsin as part of a plot orchestrated by these two men. Mohamed Aslam and his son Mohamed Nabeel Nazir wanted to attack a rival family. The court heard they were involved in a feud with Sikandar Ali's father, Aslat Mahomed, and wanted to kill him or a member of his family. In her evidence, Betro suggested it was a coincidence that minutes after the attempted assassination, she was near the area. And the perpetrator was another American woman who sounded like her, used the same phone and wore the same sort of trainers. This isn't an off-the-cuff moment of madness. This is pre-planning with other people in another continent. So I'd say she's extremely dangerous and extremely motivated to cause the very worst harm to people.
