That surge comes as President Donald Trump met virtually today with Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders. Allies who fear Trump's upcoming Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin could cement Russian gains and possibly cut Ukraine out of the deal. Zelensky says Moscow's offensive is no coincidence. I told the U.S. President that Putin is bluffing. He said Russia is trying to show it can occupy all of Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader insists any talks must start with a ceasefire and include Ukraine directly. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer seconded that demand on today's call. There could be no negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine. From France, President Emmanuel Macron said Trump assured allies that any questions about Ukrainian territorial integrity would be left to Kiev. But Moscow dismissed the talks entirely. We regard the consultations requested by Europeans as politically and practically insignificant, said the Deputy Foreign Minister. The Kremlin may have a point. Trump has floated land swaps as part of a deal, fueling fears in Kiev and European capitals that Russia could be rewarded for the war it started.
