A Beach B200 Super King aircraft crashed moments after takeoff at London Southend Airport, producing a significant fireball and thick smoke visible for kilometres. The plane, operated by Zoosh Aviation and en route to the Netherlands, came down just short of the runway.

Authorities have not confirmed any casualties, and the status of those on board remains unknown. The airport has suspended all flights while emergency services and investigators examine the scene. Zoosh Aviation has stated it is cooperating fully with the investigation.

For the people of Southend this is just a really shocking moment to have seen this happen. The 12 metre plane was a Beach B200 Super King aircraft like this one on its way to the Netherlands. It is often used as a charter plane or for medical evacuations of critically ill patients. Authorities have not yet confirmed casualties. We don't know anything of the status of those individuals yet and we certainly shouldn't be speculating as to what's happened or how it's happened. The Dutch aviation company which owns the fleet released a statement saying we can confirm that Zoosh Aviation flight SUZ1 was involved in an accident today at London Southend Airport. We are actively supporting the authorities with the investigation. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected. The airport has halted flights until further notice as emergency services and air accident investigators examine the crash site. Sarah Navin, 10 News.
