Time to catch up with the brilliant, bold and record-breaking trailblazer, Katie Ledecky. Good to see you again, Katie. You are getting ready for your seventh appearance at the World Championships. How are you preparing for the biggest swim meet of the year? Yeah, Koi, I'm getting excited. My seventh World Championships is kind of hard to believe, hard to say. It feels like just yesterday I was going to my first one in Barcelona. So it's always an honor. It's always a lot of fun to race the best in the world. You know, it's not just the training hours that I'm putting in. I swim ten times a week in the pool and I am in the gym five days a week for an hour, hour and a half. So it's probably, you know, 25, 30 hours of straight training a week. But really, I think it's hours that people don't think about that are just as important. How I'm fueling my body, how I'm resting, how I'm recovering. I'm really diligent about grabbing a core power drink right after my my swim practice in the morning. These are things that I have control of now, you know, through high school. My mom kind of took care of all those things for me. But I really enjoy, I really enjoy kind of taking ownership of that now and really investing and and trying to learn in all those different spaces. Many fans are excited to see what's being described as the race for swimming supremacy. You and Canada Summer McIntosh going head to head in the 800 meter free. Is this a budding rivalry? Is this just another race? How would you describe this matchup? Oh, I mean, I'm excited about it. I've I've gotten to race Summer a lot over the years now. I think for the first time I raced her in Tokyo and she was just 14 years old. And I think at that point you could see that she had a bright future ahead of her. And so, yeah, we will race the 400, the 800 against each other, and there'll be some other great competition in those races as well. So I think it's exciting. I think, you know, I put up one of my best 800 frees earlier this year. Or it actually it was my best. It was my best time. It was a world record at Summer's been, you know, continuing to drop time in every event. And so, yeah, it should be some exciting races. And I'm just going to put my best foot forward and see what I can do. Your list of accomplishments reads like a phone book. 14 Olympic medals, 26 World Championship medals. Your combination of hardware and your all time dominance in distance freestyle events clearly suggest you are the greatest female swimmer in history. You are the GOAT. But what are you most proud of in your career, Katie? Oh, well, I mean, I mean, thank you. I don't really think of things that way. I think, you know, what I'm probably happiest with is just the consistency that I've had over the years. I never imagined I would make it even to one Olympics. And so anything after that first gold medal at my first Olympics when I was 15 has has been kind of icing on the cake. Everything's just been extra from from then on out. And so it's kind of a nice, nice feeling. It's kind of free. There's there's no pressure. Certainly, I put pressure on myself, but I always remind myself of that and that that takes the pressure off. How would you describe the Katie Ledecky journey? That's up to you, Coyle. I'll let you do that. It's been a great journey. I think when I was six years old starting to swim, I never imagined I would make it to even one Olympics, let alone win medals. And so to now have been to four Olympics and to be striving to go to a fifth in a few years. And not only that, but for the fifth to be a home Olympics in Los Angeles. I mean, I could have never dreamed of of this this journey when I first started swimming. And I think more than anything, I'm I'm really grateful for all the people that have been a part of this journey. The coaches, the teammates, my family, of course, my friends, my professors, just everyone, you know what it's like. It's it's it's nice to have that group of people behind you every step of the way and to enjoy each moment with them. And each one has played a different role. And I've accumulated a lot of great friends through the sport and through this journey that I'm really happy that I that I started the sport of swimming and that I've continued all these years.
