Jordan Smith, a 29-year-old tennis coach from New South Wales, won the Australian Open's one-point slam event, earning a $1 million prize. Smith secured the win by defeating several competitors, including world number two Yannick Sinner, in front of a sold-out Rod Laver Arena.

In addition to his winnings, Smith will see $50,000 donated to his home club, Castle Hill Tennis Academy. The event took place ahead of the main Australian Open draws, with celebrations set to continue as tennis legend Roger Federer prepares to open the tournament festivities.

Even some of the pros were in his corner. The nerves piled on when he lost the amateur face-off for a brand new car. What do you drive at the moment? A Corolla. So this is an upgrade? This is, yeah, it's insane. I'm very happy for Alec winning the Kia after I've won the million because again, if I lost the final, I would have gone away with nothing. But Jordan bounced back against women's pro Joanna Garland to claim the top prize. He's still deciding what to do with the cash.
