James Craig, the former Aurora dentist who has been on trial this month for the poisoning and murder of his wife, was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday.

James Craig, a former dentist from Aurora, Colorado, has been found guilty of first degree murder for the death of his wife, Angela Craig. The jury concluded that Craig poisoned Angela over a period of ten days in 2023, ultimately causing her death with a lethal dose of cyanide while she was hospitalized. 

Craig was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, as mandated by Colorado law for first degree murder convictions. The trial, which lasted about two weeks, included emotional testimony from Angela's family and evidence presented by prosecutors that Craig had laced her protein shakes and swapped her antibiotics with poison. The jury also found Craig guilty of five additional solicitation charges incurred while he was in jail.

Angela Craig was a mother of six Children whose life was cut short in March of 2023. She made every moment with her unforgettable. Her siblings, all nine of them never thought her husband James Craig would be the reason Angela was so sick in 2023. James Craig will never be able to do this to another person over the course of a roughly two week trial. Prosecutors argue James Craig poisoned Angela for 10 days through laced protein shakes, an antibiotic that he swapped with cyanide and eventually a lethal dose of cyanide while Angela was hospitalized on March 15th. It overwhelmingly pointed to James Craig's guilt. James Craig's defense team argued he helped Angela Craig and her life, but not a single witness testified that she appeared suicidal. I knew that her love for life would never be trumped by someone else. She would never leave her Children. The jury didn't believe Angela Craig ended her own life. Instead, they found James Craig guilty of her murder, along with five different solicitation charges he racked up while in jail. Many members of the jury returned back into the courtroom to watch the sentencing proceeding for James Craig and her family made sure the judge knew what they were thinking right before James Craig was sentenced.
