The ban coincides with severe winter weather and increasing food scarcity in Gaza. According to the United Nations, inadequate shelter has led to the deaths of several children in recent weeks, and residents report worsening living conditions as aid becomes less accessible.

There is no medicine. 37 international non-governmental organizations, or INGOs, working in Gaza were blocked by Israel for failure to comply with stringent new registration rules. Israel says the new regulations prevent terrorist operatives from infiltrating INGOs, and stops the militant group Hamas from seizing aid arriving in the Strip. Israel told the banned INGOs to cease all operations in Gaza within 60 days. The banned organizations operate in various sectors, including health, education, child protection, and support for women and the elderly. This ban will deeply affect Gaza's residents, depriving them of services provided by these international aid groups. The ban comes as Gazans are battling harsh winter conditions, with increasingly limited ways of getting food. The UN says poor protection from the weather has caused the death of several children in the past few weeks. I woke up to rain all over me. We collected water in pots. The water leaks on us. All night, our covers and clothes were drenched. I don't know where to hang them up, or what to do. Frankly, our life is hard and miserable. The tent we live in is no good for summer or winter. The INGO ban is the latest threat to the livelihoods of Palestinians in Gaza, who were hoping that the recent ceasefire would finally provide a path back to normal life.
