The president has also said the intervention is related to the country's oil, as Venezuela has the largest proven reserves in the world. The president says major American companies will invest billions to fix and operate Venezuela's crumbling oil infrastructure. Some Democrats are also questioning the legality of capturing Maduro and his wife, which the administration has described as a law enforcement operation, and are now accusing the president of misleading Congress and pursuing regime change. We have learned through the years when America tries to do regime change and nation-building in this way, the American people pay the price in both blood and in dollars. We're not just addressing the regime. We are addressing the factors that are a threat to the national interest of the United States. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is pushing for a Senate vote to require the president to obtain Congress's approval before taking further military action against Venezuela. And CBS News has learned that later today, top administration officials are scheduled to give some members of Congress a classified briefing on the latest developments.
