Large-scale protests took place in Tel Aviv, with tens of thousands demanding an end to the war in Gaza and the release of the remaining hostages, of whom 20 are believed to be alive. Demonstrators blocked highways and gathered at key locations, expressing growing concern for the hostages' safety following Israel's announcement of a new military plan in Gaza City.

Despite the widespread public outcry, the Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, maintained its position, stating that military operations in Gaza would continue until all hostages are freed and the threat from Gaza is eliminated. The government has not engaged in recent ceasefire talks, even after Hamas accepted a proposal mediated by Arab states.

The gathering at hostage square was the centrepiece of a day of protest that saw highways blocked by burning tyres and demonstrations outside the US embassy and the houses of various ministers. Fears for the safety of the hostages have increased since Israel announced a new plan to take over Gaza City, where it's believed they're being held. I just want this to be over, I just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel, so just bring them back and finish this as soon as possible. I cannot think of something more important than ending this pointless, endless war and bringing back the hostages. I have to say no to the idea of going on with the war, and also the thought of our people still being kept underground, in unprotected places, is impossible for me. Around the same time, Israel's Security Council was meeting, but not to discuss ceasefire talks, the government said. Speaking after the meeting, Benjamin Netanyahu appeared undeterred by the public outcry. We have just come from a cabinet meeting and I will say one thing. It started in Gaza and it will end in Gaza. We will not leave those monsters there. We will free all our hostages. We will ensure that Gaza will no longer constitute a threat to Israel. It's been more than a week since Hamas accepted the latest ceasefire and hostage release proposal put forward by Arab mediators, but Israel has not sent a team to take part in the negotiations.
