The UN and humanitarian organizations, however, report that a combination of bureaucratic, logistical, and operational restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities are preventing sufficient aid from reaching those in need. Aid deliveries face significant risks, including the threat of violence at border crossings and along Israeli-designated routes, with many requests for movement permits denied or canceled. Nearly 1,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed while attempting to collect food at distribution sites, and the UN has described Gaza as the hungriest place on earth. Despite international criticism, Israel maintains its current policies and attributes the aid distribution failures to the UN.

The horror show in Gaza is without parallel in recent times, according to the UN Secretary-General. Acute malnutrition amongst children has quadrupled since February, according to the experts. International organizations have tons of aid waiting to be distributed in the UN's 400 centers. The UN and our partners are unable to bring enough aid into Gaza due to a number of interdependent factors, including bureaucratic, logistical, administrative, and other operational obstacles imposed by Israeli authorities. Israel has responded with fury, cancelling visas of UN staff and accusing the organization of bias, and worse, refusing to pick up aid piling at the crossings. Accusations echoed by the notorious U.S. and Israeli-backed GHF set up to replace the UN aid delivery system. Nearly 1,000 Palestinians have been killed while trying to collect food at GHF's distribution sites. Humanitarian organizations say the reality on the ground is clear. Aid organizations must bring their supplies to one of several border crossings with Gaza for inspection before they are allowed to drive on Israeli-designated routes. So on the way to pick up the food, there is a high chance of getting bombed or coming under IDF fire, which we've seen repeatedly in numerous, countless cases. Israel requires humanitarian teams to coordinate their movements with its army and obtain permits for the truck drivers. Between 9 and 15 July, half of the requests were either denied or initially accepted, then canceled. Israeli-designated roads are also dangerous. Trucks must go through so-called red zones, Israeli-backed militias, and crowds of starving Palestinians. Desperate and chaotic scenes like this have become routine. The UN said Gaza was the hungriest place on earth back in May. Confronted with international outrage, Israel is now trying to lay the blame at someone else's door rather than change its policy of starvation.
