Hamas attributes the delay to the extensive destruction in Gaza, making it difficult to locate bodies. An agreement addendum has established a task force to help find the missing remains. Israel, which holds the bodies of hundreds of Palestinians killed during the conflict, has agreed to return 15 Palestinian remains for each dead Israeli hostage. The Red Cross is overseeing the exchange, but challenges remain in identifying and returning the bodies.

The research for human remains it's obviously even bigger challenge than having, I would say, the people alive being released. That's a massive challenge. The Red Cross is handling the exchange of the dead. Israel still holds the bodies of hundreds of Palestinians killed during the war and has agreed to return to Gaza the remains of 15 for each dead Israeli hostage. The bodies of 45 Palestinians were returned on Tuesday. Hospital director Dr. Mohamed Zakout says they have yet to receive any names from Israel. Inevitably news spreads and draws the desperate. Every time they bring in bodies to a hospital I come, says Razmi Akkad. I will take anything right now, she says. Even if they give me a small part of his body. Hamas has now transferred the remains of four more hostages and they are on Israeli soil. It's not clear whether that will be enough to satisfy Israel. Margaret Evans, CBC News, Jerusalem.
