They feel they are doing something, but they are not promoting peace. On the contrary, they are supporting terrorism. The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations says Israel will take action in response. Some in the international community worry this could mean annexing parts of the occupied West Bank. U.S. President Donald Trump has backed Israel's stance on Palestinian statehood. He feels this does not do anything to release the hostages, which is the primary goal right now in Gaza, does nothing to end this conflict and bring this war to a close. And, frankly, he believes it's a reward to Hamas. So he believes these decisions are just more talk and not enough action from some of our friends and allies. But some countries applauded the move, including Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, who, with France, organized Monday's summit at the United Nations, in support of a two-state solution. We thank Emmanuel Macron for recognizing the state of Palestine. France and all countries calling for peace must follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of this conference, to put an end to the war in Gaza and stop all unilateral measures that threaten Palestinian sovereignty, to work on ending the conflict in the region and establishing a Palestinian independent state. Several other countries followed France's example on Monday, also recognizing Palestinian statehood, including Belgium, Luxembourg and Malta.
