Are chilly conditions in store for your team this weekend? AccuWeather's Geoff Cornish has the details.

This weekend's playoff games are set to experience a wide range of weather conditions across the United States. The West, including Denver and Seattle, will see mild and pleasant weather, with temperatures in the 50s and clear skies expected for both cities. 

In contrast, the Midwest and Northeast will face colder temperatures and the possibility of snow, particularly in Chicago and New England. Arctic air and snow showers are forecast for these regions, with temperatures dropping into the 20s for the Houston at New England game and challenging conditions expected at Soldier Field in Chicago.

How will the weather affect this weekend's playoff games?

Let's look ahead to the weekend. We've got some big playoff games in view. And there is a big contrast between what's going on late this week into the weekend in the West versus the Midwest and eventually into the Northeast. So late this work week, there will be some areas of snow across the Midwest, the upper Midwest, and the areas around the interior Northeast. We really get cold across the South. And the weekend continues with this theme with a big, pretty pronounced ridge in the West and a trough across the Midwest. And it's kind of shifting gradually a little farther East. So we've got games in Denver. Buffalo at Denver, this is going to be smooth sailing. Very pleasant weather. This time of the year could go one way or the other in Denver. And we're on the positive side of things. Almost no wind. Temperatures in the 50s, a bright sky. AccuWeather real field temperatures at times even exceeding the actual air temperatures because of some of these various factors. Buffalo into Denver, escaping the snow near the Great Lakes. We're going to take you a little farther North. And there's going to be a big ridge, the storm track diverting way to the North. And that allows for some pretty good weather here in Seattle. San Francisco at Seattle, it's going to be a night game, 5 o'clock Pacific time on Saturday. And we're looking good here. 50 degrees around pregame time. And we'll be falling, drifting through the 40s during the game. Could be a lot worse. The stars will be out. And we're looking good. Now into the weekend and beyond, we're going to have a persistent deep trough across the Great Lakes and the East. And we're going to have waves of Arctic air that move through the region. Now in New England, we're kind of on the East side of that. So it's not the heart of the cold air, but it's certainly chilly enough with temperatures falling below freezing into the 20s here for Houston at New England at Foxboro at Gillette Stadium. But the real cold air, that's in Chicago yet again. Another tough cold matchup with some snow showers and flurries at Soldier Field.
