How Buc-ee's became a road trip destination

As sure as Labor Day marks the final long weekend of the summer, there will be backups at Buc-ee's across the country. If you don't stop by Buc-ee's, then what are you doing? Buc-ee's knows what it's doing. Since opening its first store in Lake Jackson, Texas in 1982, it now has 54 locations. Growing rapidly since 2019, expanding to 10 additional states with more planned. Richard Sebastian is Buc-ee's head of operations. We consider this a destination experience. What is the Buc-ee's experience? A sensory overload. Sebastian says their success is rooted in three things. Friendly, clean, and in stock. Long weekends are their specialty. I mean, it's got everything. A bakery, jerky bar, and Buc-ee's branded boutique all with the air of a small town square. It's your birthday! Oh, and there's a fairly lovable mascot too. It's mostly about joy and fun.
