The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said its Marine Enforcement Section rescued two people and two dogs from a sunken boat.

Hillsborough County deputies responded to a situation where boaters and their two dogs were stranded after their boat sank in a river obstructed by fallen trees. The deputies, unable to reach the stranded individuals due to the blockage, coordinated with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to approach from another direction. The boaters and their pets were found safe and chose to wait in the water for the FWC's arrival rather than attempt to traverse back to the deputies' boat. The deputies confirmed the safety of the individuals and their dogs before preparing to return to their own vessel.
