Wet weather is causing a wide variety of impacts across the landscape of California.

California

California is currently under multiple weather alerts due to heavy rainfall and mountain snow. Flash flood watches are in effect for parts of Los Angeles County, while the Sierra region faces winter storm warnings, winter weather advisories, and freeze warnings. The severe weather has resulted in flash flooding, road closures, and at least one incident of a movie studio roof collapsing due to rain, though no injuries have been reported. Higher elevations, such as Donner Pass and Mammoth Mountain, are experiencing difficult travel conditions due to accumulating snow. Officials are urging caution on the roads and advising drivers to avoid flooded areas. While widespread travel disruptions have not been reported, strong winds are also affecting nearby regions, including Las Vegas.

we do still have plenty of alerts out. Here's everything on the map. So for Los Angeles, not the entire city, but eastern parts of especially Los Angeles County. We do have that aerial flood watch in effect, or actually that's a flash flood walks. Watch the other shade of green here. That's our aerial flood watch. And up into the Sierra, we have alert layered on top of alert and alert. So we have winter storm warnings. We have winter weather advisories. We have freeze warnings, you name it. It's there basically telling you heavy rainfall that can lead to flash flooding in that terrain. But then also snow when we get to those higher elevations that is accumulating, leading to even Donner Pass. We've been seeing some difficult conditions there. Mammoth Mountain in California. You're seeing video right from the right hand side of your screen. Oh, it's that time of year. People are going to break out the shovels, break out the windshield scraper, which I did at one point here. Someone selling those call them a windshield broom, which I never heard before. But whatever term you want to use, let's talk about the impacts that we have seen. I want to zero in on the flash flooding because this is a storm. We had the snow. We've had damaging wind gusts. We've had flash flooding. I just can't talk about it all at once. So separating it out, we'll talk about the wind in the next half hour. But flash flooding reports into the Los Angeles area. A lot of roadways flooded here now. One of these reports and this is finding a needle in a haystack. I'm not sure I can do it. One of these reports talks about the ceiling, the roof of a movie studio collapsing and damaging some of the equipment inside because of heavy rainfall. Thankfully, it did not report any injuries. We get into the higher terrain, though, and we're talking about road closures. Even a roadway washed out east of Bakersfield here into that higher elevation into that terrain. So just keep in mind some big impacts here. If you're going to be out and about driving, you want to make sure you are taking precautions. You are being careful. And if you come across a flooded roadway, turn around, don't drown. It is something we say all the time for a reason. We talked about this in the Northeast yesterday. Officials say, you know, it puts them in danger when they have to come perform water rescue. You just don't want to risk anybody's safety, including your own. Now we haven't seen widespread travel impacts in California at this point, but things are moving inland, Damien. That's right. And as we look at the latest here, we've seen some strong winds here in Vegas. And this time of year, we normally do see some flight disruptions in Las Vegas because of stronger winds. And that's what's happening here for today.
