The head of Israel's Druze community has appealed to European leaders for urgent action in response to recent sectarian violence in Syria, particularly in the Suwayda region. Thousands have been killed and over 230,000 displaced following clashes between Druze and Sunni Bedouin tribes, with reports of massacres and severe shortages of basic necessities.

During a visit to Brussels, the Druze leader emphasized the need for international assistance to return kidnapped and displaced people, restore essential services, and provide humanitarian aid. He also defended Israeli strikes on Syrian government convoys in Suwayda, stating they were necessary to protect the Druze community from further violence.

A powerful aftershock struck eastern Afghanistan late on Thursday night. More than 2,200 people have already died the quake.
