Doha, Qatar, where I am right now, is reeling after Israel launched an attack targeting Hamas's political leadership that operate in this energy-rich country. Now, Hamas says that none of its senior leaders were killed, but five lower-level members of the militant organization were slain in this attack. Qatar says one member of its internal security force also was killed in the attack, bringing the total number of dead so far to at least six. Now, Israel is insisting that it carried out this attack on its own, likely because it's starting to hear some criticism from the White House over this strike. Now, the Trump administration says that it warned the Qataris ahead of time. The Qataris are saying that that warning came even as the explosions were being heard here in Doha. All this comes as the Qataris have been trying to negotiate a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war that's just decimated the Gaza Strip. Reportedly, these leaders were in a meeting about one of these ceasefire proposals when this attack happened. The Qataris didn't rule out continuing to work and mediate towards a ceasefire, but as of right now, it remains unclear if anyone can stop the war, and it looks like there could be further escalations in the Middle East in the future.
