Guinness World Records is celebrating 70 years of capturing history and achievements all over the world. Craig Glenday, the editor in chief of Guinness World Records, joins CBS News with more.

Guinness World Records is celebrating its 70th anniversary, having documented thousands of record-breaking feats across a wide range of categories, from sports and technology to unique collections and unusual human achievements. Editor-in-chief Craig Glenday emphasized the book's significance as a historical document that tracks progress and celebrates individual accomplishments, providing both entertainment and inspiration.

To mark the anniversary, Guinness World Records has identified 70 records that currently have no holders, encouraging the public to attempt and set new records. Glenday shared some of his memorable experiences adjudicating records, including meeting individuals with extraordinary talents and characteristics, and highlighted the ongoing opportunity for anyone to become a record holder.

All right, it's time to hone your talents because the Guinness Book of World Records is celebrating its 70th birthday and Guinness has covered it all, from the smallest horse or the fastest tortoise to the largest money in the poo collection or even the most ice cream scoops balanced on a cone. The book really has authenticated thousands of records in sport, tech, the human body, super skills, collections, and just all around weird things. Craig Glenday is the editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records and he joins us now to speak about this. So Craig, other than bragging rights, why do these records matter? Snapshots, I think across the history of the last 70 years at least we can look back and track history and see how we've progressed. Before the book, we hadn't been to the moon, we'd only just been at Everest, but we also track individuals' achievements and we celebrate these things and we want to keep on celebrating. So it's a really important, I think, historical document and it gives you a bit of fun and light relief and it's really enjoyable. You should have a go at breaking a record because we want you to be part of it and enjoy the experience. Well, we all need a break and a bit of relief every now and then. We were just looking at some images, I think of the woman who bounced lots of different basketballs at once. You've traveled all over the world to adjudicate these things, so what's the most unusual thing that you've seen? I mean, in recent years, I think my favorite record has definitely been the longest fingernails that's in the U.S. today. This is a lady who has almost four and a half foot long fingernails on each finger. And how do you function? And for me, it was a great honor to spend the day with her, see how she interacts with the surroundings, her family, and I'm just very lucky to be able to dip in and out of these amazing people's lives. You know, I've got the job of meeting and measuring the world's most fascinating people, because by definition, that's what's the most extreme. And I'm very lucky. There's a guy here doing a stack of cards. What records have yet to be broken yet that my viewers and myself can attempt in the days ahead? Well, yeah, because it's our 70th anniversary, we've found 70 records with no record holders. And there's a whole list of things you can do at home, like sack racing the fastest 400 meters, 10 kilometer three-legged race, bottle flipping, how far can you flip a bottle so it lands upright?
