The group, started by Lisa Montes and Amy Bryan, has been operating since the beginning of the year and currently serves about 50 families, totaling around 250 people.

The need for these deliveries has grown as immigration enforcement has increased, prompting the group to expand its reach to additional neighborhoods and seek more community support. Recipients, like Maria, rely on these deliveries for basic necessities and express concern for their families' well-being. The group emphasizes its commitment to providing food and support as long as the need persists.

Well, this almost the ass volunteers have been delivering groceries and other supplies to families like what you see here on this table since January. And they say the need for these deliveries is only growing. They call themselves the S. We have spices, um, instant coffee. We try to get protein as often as possible, but they're volunteers. Typical rice that we give every week and then, you know, just cleaning supplies, cleaning products, cereal, gathering and preparing the essentials for families. About a week's worth of groceries set to go to people who the Diaz say are too afraid to leave their home due to immigration enforcement in the community. It's growing exponentially as as the heat gets turned up for sure. Lisa Montes and Amy Bryan started Somos Diaz at the beginning of the year. So far they say they're donating food and supplies to about 50 families, which adds up to 250 people. We had to step up because food is a basic right. People like Maria, whose family has lived and worked in Solana Beach for 20 years. No, sick. Maria tells me she doesn't know what her family would do without the Diaz. She asked us not to show her face because of her immigration status. For now, she's only going to and from work because she's worried about who would care for her Children if she were to get detained. Somos Diaz was started in Solana Beach but has expanded to Encinitas, Escondido and soon to Linda Vista. The need is so big now they're turning to the community for help to continue the donations. The trump administration has showed no signs of slowing down enforcement, vowing to find arrest and send back anyone in the country illegally. Tuesday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announcing the 5000 arrest in L. A. Saying it's quote only the beginning. The Diaz say they'll be delivering food as long as the need is there. It doesn't matter to us why. Um, and we're not, we're not out here to cause problems. We're here to feed these families to take care of their basic needs in Solana Beach, Laura Sevedo, ABC 10 News.
