Players described the experience as special and unique, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to play on a course recently used by top professionals. Bethpage Black will begin accepting reservations again soon, offering more golfers a chance to play.

The people here today are among the first of the public to play Bethpage Black just two weeks after the world's best golfers called this course home. The sound of golf is back at the Black. The course reopened to the public this morning after being closed in August for the Ryder Cup. But the journey to the first tee started early yesterday for Bethpage's Lou Lavaca. He and his buddies got here at 8 on Thursday morning to be the first in line today. It's going to be special, definitely. We made sure that we had to be the first guys and honored to do so. He wasn't alone. Every single player is going to be at your start. The walk-up lot was packed with people sleeping in their cars and camping overnight for a shot to play. It's a course that the professionals look forward to play and I could play it with a little bit of camping out. Trevor drove from Massachusetts and slept overnight, but he and his friends will stay another night ensuring they're among the first in line for tomorrow. Just play Saturday morning, you know, just not have to worry about it. So we came here last night, didn't want to take any chance of driving a long way. So we caught up with Lou at the first hole and asked him, was it worth it? To be able to play on this tee box? I mean, it's nothing like it. It's a once in a lifetime experience. I'm very grateful.
