We did talk to the left party, which holds 64 seats here in parliament, and they are not impressed by the government's shift. I think there's not really a shift, because I think it's very important to know that he did not ban all exports. He was just saying that there will be no new permissions for sales to Israel. The shift in public opinion towards Israel seems to be more significant. This latest poll here shows that now only 31% thinks that Germany has a historic responsibility towards Israel. 62% doesn't agree. So, what made them change their mind? Let's ask. As time went on, I thought this is going too far. Gaza was already completely destroyed. The tunnels were gone, and then the aid deliveries were stopped. We should forget about our special responsibility towards Israel, as long as this government is in power. We're traveling outside of Berlin to meet with former ambassador Martin Kobler. He was based in Palestine in the 1990s, but is now retired. In a letter with 12 other former ambassadors, he pleaded to the government to increase its pressure on Israel. And you think the German government in the last 22 months made a mistake, defending Israel at all costs? Not at the beginning. I've seen the trauma Israel has through this Hamas attack, but this does not justify the reaction. Members of the Israeli government said very clearly that the Palestinian population in Gaza have to disappear. But they said that quite in the beginning. Yes, they said it. So this is where Germany should have intervened, basically, or stopped supporting Israel? We should have listened, I think, yes, more carefully to what they say. We should have taken it more seriously, and we should have acted much earlier. Germany's historic guilt towards Jews and Israel still hangs heavily here in Berlin.
