The severity of the humanitarian crisis has led some Western nations once sympathetic to Israel’s actions in Gaza to shift their stance. On Friday, pro-Palestinian rallies were held in numerous places around the world.

The rallies were prompted by warnings from over 100 aid and human rights organizations about the spread of mass starvation in the region. Doctors Without Borders reported that a significant portion of young children and mothers in their Gaza clinic are malnourished. 

Some Israelis have joined the protests, expressing concern over the ongoing conflict and reassessing their views. Meanwhile, Britain, France, and Germany have jointly called on Israel to lift restrictions on aid, a request Israel has rejected, denying responsibility for the worsening humanitarian situation.

I know how it started and I know that Israel had to react but it's gone too far now. They need to just stop. That ordinary people live and survive and life carry on in Gaza. After over 21 months of war, some Israelis are also reassessing their view of the conflict. I came here because last week, for the first time, I crossed the Rubicon and I called what's going on in Gaza genocide. For me it was unbearable to admit it, to confess, to pronounce the word. But this is it. It's a genocide. And I cannot but support whoever protests against it. In a joint statement Friday, Britain, France and Germany called on Israel to immediately lift restrictions on the flow of aid. Israel has rejected accusations it's responsible for the deepening crisis in Gaza.
