A new natural gas pipeline transporting gas from Azerbaijan to Syria through Turkey has commenced operations. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced at the inauguration that the project will increase Syria's electricity supply from a few hours per day to up to ten hours daily, benefiting around five million households, particularly in Aleppo.

The minister emphasized the importance of international support, especially from European countries, to help normalize life in Syria and address ongoing infrastructure needs. Syria has faced severe energy shortages since the outbreak of its civil war, which has significantly reduced the country's electricity generation capacity.

The export of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Syria via Turkey began this weekend. At the pipeline's inauguration ceremony, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said the electricity supply to Syria would now increase from three to four hours a day to ten hours a day. He also called on other European nations to step up their help of Syria. With this project, we will be able to control the production plants in Syria, especially in Aleppo. This will meet the electricity needs of 5 million households. Of course, Syria has many needs, infrastructure needs, other needs. For this reason, it is important for European Union countries, European countries, Western countries to support these projects in order for life there to normalize. It is important for them to contribute to these projects. Syrians have been struggling with serious energy shortages since the start of the civil war. The conflict paralyzed the country's electricity grid, more than halving its capacity to generate electricity.
