Police are investigating whether the fatal shooting of former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian in Riverstone, in Sydney’s north-west, was gangland related. At least a dozen bullets were fired at the 33-year-old.

Suman Mokhtarian, a former UFC fighter, was shot and killed while walking in a Sydney neighborhood. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a masked assailant flee the scene. Shortly after the shooting, a red Audi and a van believed to be getaway vehicles were found torched nearby. Mokhtarian had previously survived an attempted shooting and had been the subject of threats, leading to the cancellation of a martial arts event earlier in the year. The public nature of the attack has left local residents concerned for their safety as police continue their investigation.

A red Audi found torched just minutes away alongside a second potential getaway vehicle. The burning van out of control and terrifying neighbours. Moments before, a figure dressed in black ran from the van before another set it alight and followed. And it kept blowing up. The former UFC fighter last year survived an alleged execution attempt, escaping injury during a shooting outside his gym. Earlier this year, a mixed martial arts event was cancelled after police heard there was a threat to his life. Mokhtarian was left to die on this corner outside a family home, and it's the brazen nature of this shooting, in broad daylight and in public, that has residents worried. Yeah, it's, like, made me want to move. Yeah. Today, the marks left behind by last night's murder remain. A father whose children were trained by Mokhtarian laying flowers... That's what was up.
