Doctors at Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital are preparing for an influx of flu cases now that kids are back in school. The drop in flu hospitalizations from a city PHE graph here matches what the doctors are seeing. So if you follow the pink line, those are influenza cases. You can see it peaked at the end of December than it dropped off in about the last week or so. Pediatric emergency doctor Neil Sella says that he's actually seeing a similar trend. And is expecting that number to go back up. He left the ER just for a couple minutes to come straight to talk to us saying kids are already being admitted for things like high fever, dehydration and other complications. I'd say this has been one of the busier flu seasons actually. My career I've been doing about 15 years. Strain it seems to be particularly tricky and difficult. Health experts say that it doesn't totally match this year's vaccine, but they also said the shot can still protect you from some of the most severe symptoms and then keep you out of the hospital. Now, since flu hospitalizations are so high right now, doctors say emergency rooms are overwhelmed. So if you are starting to feel sick and wondering just how serious it is, they're suggesting telehealth instead. If you're sick and you feel like you just need a little bit of advice and don't need urgent attention. You know it's a good way to protect others without going out into the community and spreading the illness that you might have. Now, of course, if you are in need of critical or urgent care, doctors say you should absolutely see a doctor in person or go to the.
