The group released footage showing fire damage to the boat's top deck and stated that all passengers and crew were unharmed. Tunisian authorities, however, denied the claim of a drone strike, attributing the incident to a fire onboard the vessel.

The GSF, which seeks to break Israel's naval blockade of Gaza and deliver aid, accused Israel of being behind the attack, though the Israeli military has not commented. The flotilla is supported by delegations from 44 countries, including activist Greta Thunberg. Israel has previously intercepted similar aid missions, maintaining its blockade to prevent weapon smuggling since 2007.

The group said that the British-flagged vessel Alma sustained fire damage to its top deck and an investigation was underway. The international initiative, which aims to break Israel's naval blockade and deliver aid to Gaza, said Wednesday that this was the second such strike. It said all passengers and crew were unharmed. The GSF first reported an attack earlier on Tuesday, saying a drone hit a vessel in Tunisia's Sidi Bou Said port. However, Tunisian authorities said those claims were false and that the fire broke out onboard the vessel. Activist and Flotilla member Saif Aboukesheik pointed the finger of blame at Israel. There is no other government that is interested to stop such a civilian movement except the government of Israel. So this is what happened, it's a violation of Tunisian law, violation of civilians, attack on a ship that carries humanitarian aid with civilians on board. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Following the second strike, hundreds gathered near the port waving Palestinian flags and chanting against Israel and the United States. The Flotilla is backed by delegations from 44 countries, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. In June, Israeli naval forces boarded and seized a British-flagged yacht carrying Thunberg, among others. Israel dismissed the aid ship as a propaganda stunt in support of Hamas. It has enforced a blockade since Hamas took Gaza in 2007, saying it prevents weapon smuggling.
