The final days of July will bring flash flood risks to Colorado. AccuWeather's Tony Laubach reported live from Colorado as severe storms returned to the region on July 30.

Flash flood watches and warnings have been issued across parts of Colorado's front range, particularly along the I-25 corridor. Heavy rainfall has resulted in standing water on roads, slowing traffic during peak travel periods, especially in Colorado Springs and nearby areas.

Minor flash flooding has been reported in locations such as Manitou Springs and the western side of Colorado Springs. Some storms briefly reached severe levels, producing small hail north of Colorado Springs, and a confirmed tornado was reported near West Cliff, west of Pueblo. Additional rounds of showers and storms are expected, with flash flood warnings remaining in effect as weather conditions continue to evolve.

Flash flood threat builds across Colorado

flood watches are in effect today across parts of Colorado's front range. Heavy rain will trigger flash flooding along parts of the I-25 corridor. Acuma, the meteorologist Tony Laubach joins us now from Colorado Springs with more on what to expect in the days ahead, Tony. Yeah, Damian. Well, you're you're looking at rush hour here in Colorado Springs, and we are currently active on a couple of flash flood warnings for the springs from storms that came through here a little bit ago. We saw some very heavy rain that moved in. You see the traffic here kind of slow. We're at the kind of beginning middle parts of rush hour, but some standing water on the roads and places here along I-25. We'll show you some of the video here. Fortunately, the storms had some wheels to them, so we were not seeing the torrential rain really hang around in a lot of areas. But flash flooding, minor flash flooding reported in areas like Manitou Springs, the western side of Colorado Springs. Some of what you're seeing here again, nothing too significant out of that round of storms. They were briefly severe, particularly north of Colorado Springs, where we had some small hail up in the Monument Palmer Lake areas. In addition to that, further to the southwest down near West Cliff, we actually had a confirmed tornado out of an isolated cell there, so that would put that just to the west of Pueblo. So an active day kind of along these areas, flash flood warnings, several of them in effect from about Monument down to Colorado Springs, those going between 5 30 and 6 30 Mountain Time. Those warnings remain in effect as the storms have pushed through and will continue to push on through to the east. But again, it certainly made a rush hour already off to a slow start, thanks to some of the standing water on many of the area roads here in Colorado Springs. Could be looking at multiple rounds of these showers and storms, particularly from Colorado Springs and points south. And we're also seeing some development in the foothills just off to the west of Denver, so we could be looking at some strong storms that will work through those areas later this evening and probably kind of resetting and doing it again as we get into the day tomorrow again. Right now, the main issue is the flash flood warnings for the Colorado Springs area. Again, those going till about 6 15 6 34 Colorado Springs proper get a little further north up till Monument in Palmer Lake. Most of the rain is cleared out of that area. That flash flood warning issued with that storm as well. And again, that confirmed tornado guys down near West Cliff. Kind of the surprise of the day down in the mountains a little bit. So severe weather, certainly the secondary headline behind the the flooding rains and unfortunately will be a concern for us here as we go through tomorrow as well. All right. Good stuff there, Tony.
