A firearm has been dumped in bushland as a police manhunt continues for the occupants of a stolen car. The vehicle was found dumped in bushland at Glenview near Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast causing streets to be locked down.

A stolen car, reported missing from Caboolture, was discovered abandoned in dense bushland just south of the Caloundra exit on the Bruce Highway. The vehicle showed signs of significant damage, with panels and number plates removed, and no individuals found at the scene.

Police were alerted to the presence of firearms at the time the car was taken. A firearm was later found discarded a short distance from the vehicle. Authorities have lifted the emergency declaration in the area, but the search for those involved continues, and residents are advised to stay alert.

We can bring you these pictures. This is the car that this is all about. It was reported stolen from Caboolture earlier today and then found dumped in Scrubland just south of the Caloundra exit on the Bruce Highway. Anyone who's familiar with that part of the highway will know it's very, very dense bushland and that car had absolutely taken a beating. Panels had been torn off, number plates had been torn off, but there was no one around. When that car was taken this morning, a person who was there told police that they saw guns at the scene there and with the people who took the car. When police got here, those people had fled. They were in bushland. And that's what sparked this search this afternoon. It is a very large area that they were scouring this afternoon. And just in the past few minutes or so, we've learned that that firearm that they were believed to have was dumped in bushland a short distance away from that car. But Chris, as we go to air tonight, the people allegedly involved in all of this, they have not been found. So the search continues. But the emergency declaration that Public Safety Preservation Order Queensland Police issued has also just been lifted. People here told to stay alert, but not alarmed. Thanks Matt.
