Tropical Storm Fernand continues to weaken, likely becoming post-tropical Tuesday night or Wednesday as it moves northeast into the northern Atlantic. The tropics will stay quiet this week, but there are some areas that bear watching as we get into September.

Tropical system Fernand is currently weakening in the Pacific, reducing immediate concerns in that region. Meanwhile, meteorologists are monitoring an area off the coast of Africa for potential storm development, with the European forecast model indicating some activity.

There is also attention on an anomalous front off the US East Coast, though no immediate threats are identified. Forecast models differ, with the GFS model not predicting significant activity in the monitored Atlantic area, while the European model suggests possible developments. No direct threats to the US are anticipated at this stage.

Fernand weakening; Looking ahead to September

A lot of the action in the Pacific here right now. Fernand continues to weaken, but there is this area that the European anyway is kind of looking at off of Africa here coming up. And also remember that front, that anomalous front off the East Coast has always kind of grabbed my interest regardless of what time of the year it is. So let's start on Friday, of course going into a holiday weekend and you can see the Euro here showing a little something here. I mean, we'll see if, you know, NHC outlooks this area, that's obviously up to them. And then they keep moving it West and keeping it moving it West. Of course, we're a long way away from any kind of US threat should that even come to fruition. Okay, and by the way, the GFS, where is it? It doesn't do much with it at all. So according to the GFS, they don't have anything out through here.
